Legs, 2019

40 x 43 x 20 cm

Spanish Alabaster

Legs plays with the motion of limbs. They seem to be waving in a watery medium.

They are carved from a large river boulder of Spanish Alabaster. River boulders contain impurities which give texture and life to the stone.

Alabaster is translucent and the light moving through the stone enhances the sense of limbs waving. The piece was inspired by Gary Hume’s beautiful carving of “The Beach”, seen at Roche Court, Wiltshire, 2019.
