Spanish Alabaster

Legs plays with the motion of limbs, drawn from across the animal kingdom. They seem to be waving in a watery medium.

They are carved from a large river boulder of Spanish Alabaster which contains impurities which give life to the stone. The alabaster is translucent and the light moving through the stone enhances the sense of limbs waving. The piece was inspired by Gary Hume’s beautiful carving of “The Beach”, seen at Roche Court, Wiltshire, 2019.
