Spanish Alabaster
This male torso was carved from a stunning river piece of Spanish alabaster, full of clear crystalline veins.
The work was carried out in the studio of Jon Sait, high in the remote mountainous Maestrazgo region of Aragon, in Spain, in the village of Canada de Benatanduz.
The piece explores the make up of the male body - an argument between hard edges and soft curves. Light floods through the stone to pick out the veins of crystal which run though it like nerves and blood vessels.
